BOOOOOOOOM!
Smoke filled the basement laboratory after the explosive sound echoed throughout the first floor above and the floor trembled slightly. The sound of coughing came from within the smoke as the five foot four inch tall female waved her hand before her face to clear the smoke away. ”Well, fuck… back to the drawing board.”, she managed to get out, either talking to herself or someone else hidden within the smoke momentarily unknown. As soon as she could see enough, a quick adjust to her glasses happening, she headed over to the panel of buttons and pressed the large red one, putting an instant stop to whatever experiment she had going on within the chamber beyond. Thankfully the chamber was made out of strong enough material to have contained all but the smoke due to her having been heading inside when it malfunctioned. The explosion caused no damage, minus the tremble that had been felt both below her own feet and the feet of those above her, but the experiment within the chamber was currently going nowhere – not without some repair and some better thinking.
With a sigh the female pushed her glasses up to the top of her head and rubbed at her eyes while the vents around the room went to work, sucking out all of the smoke fairly quickly and efficiently. She pinched at the bridge of her nose more out of frustration than anything caused by the smoke before pulling her glasses back down and into place and heading for the stairs. She took them two at a time before crossing the foyer and pushing the doors open. She stopped on the porch, hands on her hips, and simply staring up at the sky for a moment as if she were silently cursing some God she might or might not have believed in.
It was several seconds into this that she realized it probably wasn’t such a good idea to present herself as such an open target – something mere days she wouldn’t have thought about. But mere days ago she hadn’t been King of the Morningstar family: not that she dressed like the previous King and Queen had – in fact, she was still in her black tank top with the overly baggy black sweatshirt over top, black leggings, and her black combat boots which were actually her anti-gravity boots that she never went anywhere without. ”Oh bother...”, she muttered beneath her breath while scanning the area to see if there was anything or anyone out of place – the gardeners were busy mowing the laws but otherwise everything seemed fine for the moment.

- Nanoids:
- Name: Nanoids
Type: Item
Rank: A
Description: Dez's bloodstream is primed with "Nanoids," which enhance her Speed, Strength, Endurance, and Perception. The machines are constantly rebuilding themselves using Dez's own electrical field as an energy supply. The machines ensure that Dez never gets sick, cannot be poisoned, and heals her from grievous injuries in a short amount of time. The Nanoids cannot be hacked by an outside source. They give Dez a "stealth" of sorts, rendering her unrecognizable to all surveillance equipment, and because of the android technology involved, invisible to those that can sense ki, as long as she is not involved in rigorous activities.
Injuries such as mild scraps and burns heal within one post, while broken bones and head trauma need two to heal. The loss of a limb or any form of regeneration takes three posts to complete.
(This is locked to Dez only, unless she grants another permission to have it.)
- Smart Device:
- Name: Smart Device (Phone)
Type: Item
Rank: C
Description: A black cellphone, comes with an earpiece and dual cameras. Also comes with a screen protector and a protective case: a car could run it over and wouldn’t do any damage.
It will only recognize Dez as it's user; anyone else will not be able to access or work it. It allows her to contact any of her friends who has the same phone instantly, alongside allowing them to make normal calls. The phone operates on a private channel that cannot be hacked or tapped. The Smart Device also allows Dez to hack into most any technology and machinery for a world of different functions; for example, turning off lights, remotely hacking computers, cameras, and other smart devices, overloading a device to cause an explosion, among many other uses left to Dez's imagination.
- Anti-gravity Boots:
- Name: Anti-Gravity Boots
Type: Item / Armor
Rank: D
Description: A black pair of ordinary looking, flat bottomed, polished, steel toed, combat boots that lace up the front with straps that cover the laces. The boots are a small size, fitting for a young woman's size feet. Woven into these boots however, at the very center of all of the fabric, is the technology and information that make these boots "anti-gravity". The boots are made out of a 'smart' material that is capable of repairing itself.
The creator of these boots, Dez, is capable of upgrading them even without the boots in her possession through multiple chips located within the boots that contain all of the information.
The boots work by syncing with the wearers nervous system; thus reading the users movements as they're passed from the brain and to the appropriate muscles: in this case the feet and legs. The boots help enhance the user in several ways:
- Enhanced Jump: The user can jump extremely high, able to go from the ground to roughly fifty stories into the air via repulsion from the ground itself - useful for when making an escape or needing to get out of the way. For those with a version of enhanced conditioning this jump height is nearly doubled. When matched with something like a cape or glider it's an effective means to get long distances without having to touch the ground via gliding.
- Enhanced Stomp: Using a reverse system this increases the 'heaviness' of the boot, causing more damage (talking skull crushing, skull shattering) damage to anyone who happens to be underfoot.
- Knock-Back Kick: Using must less repulsion than Enhanced Jump this allows the user when they kick someone to knock them back up to fifteen feet with a normal strengthed kick - for those with a form of enhanced conditioning this is increased to thirty feet.
- Wall Walking: Instead of repulsion like most of the upgrades to the boots this works quite the opposite way and instead pulls the wearer towards something. It allows them to essentially walk/run across all surfaces without falling. They're also capable walking/running up walls, and even upside down along ceilings or other objects.
- Glider Boosting: While this repulsion works much like the enhanced jumping upgrade this repulsion lasts longer than the latter. It must be charged before use (x amount of posts of charge = x amount of posts of flight) but once charged will allow the wearer to glide for how ever long the charge has been held for. While charging the wearer is still able to use the other upgrades of the boots.
- Speed Boost: When these boots are on they boost the wearer's speed.

- Passive Abilities:
- Name: Strength
Special Ability Required: Physical
Sub Spec Required: Enhanced Conditioning
Rank: E
Range: Self
Description: Spook's physical strength - although it is very rare for him to engage in combat himself - is boosted far beyond the norm. Spook can lift upwards of about 4,079 pounds: the weight of an average car. He can easily carry and even throw this weight with little to no difficulty. Spook can jump to the height of an average 5 story building. Unprotected individuals hit by Spook will easily be dealt grave if not fatal damage.
Name: Speed
Special Ability Required: Physical
Sub Spec Required: Enhanced Conditioning
Rank: E
Range: Self
Description: If need be, Spook can employ the use of swift speed. His movements cannot be tracked by the normal untrained eye. In a full out run, Spook can reach land speeds between 68-75 miles an hour, the same speed of a Cheetah. His eyes have been trained in speed as well, enabling him to see things while moving at swift speeds. Spook is trained to adjust and change directions while moving almost immediately.
Name: Camouflage
Special Ability Required: Non-Elemental Magic
Sub Spec Required: Shapeshifting
Rank: E
Range: Self
Description: Spook possess a natural Camouflage. To people with abilities that let them read and detect others who have powers and abilities around them, Spook is rendered invisible, or "just another face in the crowd." The strongest sensory techniques cannot detect that Spook is abnormal, and recycles everytime he takes on a new form. This ability is at it's strongest when Spook is not moving. The Camouflage can, however, be broken if Spook himself is hit, moves too fast or engages in physical combat.
Name: Multiple Personalities
Special Ability Required: Non-Elemental Magic
Sub Spec Required: /
Rank: E
Range: Self
Description: A bad childhood caused Spook to form several other personalities in his head. In the beginning, these other personalities would take over Spook's body when he was sleep, or beaten into unconsciousness. Spook eventually gained the ability to control and employ them at will, making him unpredictable. Those with abilities to read and predict their opponent's next moves will find this useless against Spook. These other personalities in Spook's head will also disrupt the sensory output of a psychic that attempts to read his mind or control his body, causing them the equivalent of a severe migraine headache.
- Laptop:
- Name: Spook's Laptop
Type: Item
Rank: C
Description: Spook's custom Laptop computer. The color of the outside panels can be changed. The main tool in his arsenal, The Laptop can be used to hack various devices and technology around him wirelessly. If the object in question has any kind of computerized ingredients, Spook can hack and control it (1 post for NPCs, 3 uninterrupted posts for other people. If interrupted, he must start again.) The Laptop also serves as a conduit between this plane, and the parallel plane where his summons dwell. By entering certain CDs into the disc drive, Spook can call fourth these summons, and use the keyboard to give them commands. Spook's Laptop possesses the best anti-virus and anti-hack software that money can buy. (Only a device more powerful is able to even attempt to hack the Laptop, and 3 uninterrupted posts must pass before a successful hack. Even still, Spook can detect who is trying to hack him and either counter hack, first by sending out a pulse to interrupt the invading hack for 1 post, also requiring 3 uninterrupted posts, or simply cut the power, rendering the invasion attempt null and void.)
The Laptop is the conduit that keeps Spook's summons upon the Earthly plane. The only way to break the bond between Spook and the creature he summons is to destroy the Laptop; at which time the summons will be sent back to their plane. Spook's summons do not die when they are "killed," they are simply returned to the parallel plane, and cannot be summon again until Spook enters a new thread.
A girl was sitting at the bus stop across from the vine yard, the same bus stop where several goons were fatally beaten up by an old eldery man. There was a cheap throw away phone in her hand that wasn't in service. The girl was playing a game on the phone. A ninja was running down a set of train tracks collecting coins, and the girl guided him by jumping, moving side to side and ducking. There were various power-ups in the tracks to aid her in the collection of these coins, and the ninja could employ the use of various kinds of surf boards for travel. There were many obstacles, like railings, bushes, electrical boxes, and of course, trains. There was a very catchy tune coming out of the phone.
The girl looked goth. She was dressed in totally in black. On her head was a hood/cape mixture; the hood concealing most of her face, revealing her nose, her lips and the bottom of her chin. She had on a long sleeved top that went down onto her hands, and doubles as makeshift gloves. The top revealed just a bit of cleaveage for the girly factor. She wore baggy leggins and a pair of futuristic-looking boots that came up near her knees. Next to the girl was a travel bag. The several people who happened to walk past stared at the girl, for she wasn't one ordinarily seen everyday.
This girl wasn't who she appeared to be. In fact, this wasn't really a girl at all, she just appeared to be. She was actually a he, Spook; someone with the ability to change how he looked at will. Spook had no qualms with changing himself into a female, even if it garnered himself the wrong kind of attention sometimes. These Morningstars were mounting for a comeback. There was activity going on over at that estate. So far, this family was the only one looking active, and until the others started making moves again, Spook decided to merely keep an eye on things, see what was going on.
Spook pulled out his laptop after turning the phone off, opening it and turning it on. An infrared view let Spook know that something had recently exploded over there, underground, possibly the basement. It wouldn't be long before someone came upstairs and outside onto one of the porches. Hmmmm. A female. Spook hadn't expected someone to come out so soon. The computer said "NO DATA" leaving him to wonder exactly who this female was.

Re: Robots? This is why we can't have nice things! [Open]
In silence Destiny watched as the gardeners mowing the lawns moved back and forth with precise movements, as if anything less than perfection for the Morningstar Estate would be a bad thing: she couldn’t help but shake her head. Perhaps it was the way she had grown up but impeccable lawns and grand and showy statues just didn’t scream a welcoming home to her. Then again, her own father had been much the same in his tastes of wanting everything grand and perfect so perhaps that’s why she disliked it so much – it reminded her too much of him.
Before her mind could trail too far down that dark path of thoughts she reached into her sweatshirts front pocket and pulled out her cellphone, pressing her thumb against it as it scanned her fingerprint before unlocking. Once in the phone she pulled up the security footage, running through the various cameras with a swipe of her thumb as she so often did that littered the property – looking for anything out of the ordinary, or anything that would be of concern. At first nothing caught her attention until after several more swipes she settled in a goth looking female sitting at the bus stop across the way. The girl looked to be on a laptop and it reminded her a bit of the old man who had been spotted in the same place a few days earlier where some of the thugs who had been chasing after some strange pink haired girl had been killed. ”Hmm...”, a simple noise as she simply watched for a moment longer before swiping right again to check another camera --- which happened to apparently be malfunctioning considering the grainy picture she was getting. She swiped her thumb again, finding another camera and adjusting its angle from her cellphone so that she could take a closer look at the malfunctioning camera and see what was going on. It took her but a moment to get the angle right and see that the culprit was a small squirrel busy chewing on the wire.
Tucking her phone back into her pocket after darkening the screen she headed towards the steps and simply jumped over them, landing in a crouch before standing up and stuffing her hands into her pockets. She headed around some of the bushes that lined the front of the estate, stopping only when she got in front of the camera and the squirrel tucked off into the corner. ”Oi! Get off that!”, she called out loudly, hoping to startle the creature into scurrying off: the animal didn’t budge. ”Stubborn damn squirrel...”, Destiny muttered beneath her breath as she headed over to the wall. She glanced around, finding everyone to be relatively busy still mowing – the gardeners having worked their way further down the lawn and out of eyesight of her – before lifting her foot and placing the bottom of it onto the wall. Her other foot followed suit, and with one foot in front of the other she walked her way up the side of the building casually, parallel with the ground below. As she got closer the squirrel paused in its wire chewing and stared at her, making an odd chirping noise as it removed the wire slowly from its mouth. ”You’re ruining my very expensive equipment, get the fuck on somewhere….”, she spoke, not really expecting the squirrel to respond. The squirrel tilted its head at her and then scurried off along some electrical wires that were attached to the side from one of the nearby telephone poles. ”Well then...”
Kneeling down Devon reached a hand out, grabbing the wire where the rubber still existed and turning it so that she could see the exposed wire more carefully: it had been chewed on fairly badly, and she was surprised the squirrel hadn’t ended up cooking itself. With another glance around to see if anyone was paying any attention to her that she could see she shifted her hands closer and focused on the wire, activating one of her abilities after a moment of focusing that had the wire and the rubber all but regrowing itself. It took focus and once she was done she tucked the wire back off behind the camera where it had belonged…

Well, she was there, meaning she had to be a member of the family, as for what member, that was left to be seen. Spook hacked into the normal satellite that he'd used to spy on folk, zooming in from the atmosphere to see himself - or herself- sitting at the bus stop. He re-positioned the camera onto the mysterious female, right around the time that she put her feet on the wall and began walking up the side.
"She can walk on walls."
So she's special then? Like Ol Spook. Like the little pink haired girl from the other day."
What do you think happened to her? The kid?"
"You concerned now, huh? Are you catching feelings? Hoping Ol Spook took her under his wing?"
"Funny. The kid is just a kid though. Running around out here in this nasty world. Somebody could get to her, steer her the wrong way."
"Maybe. But we don't know where she is, and Ol Spook, unless one of us is behind the driver's seat, isn't exactly one to engage in conversation with randoms."
The female across the way shooed a squirrel away from a surveillance camera. What happened next made even Spook watch closely. She seemed to just instantly fix the damage by some means, with no tools. Was this another special ability? Spook opened another screen and typed rapidly, finding nothing on such a skill. it made him squint his eyes. Were the Morningstars really harboring people in there with these sort of skills? It made Spook curious as to what else this one knew how to do.
"Well, isn't that interesting."
"Right? She magically fixed those wires."
"I don't think that was magic, that was something else."
"Ol Spook could use something like that."
"Maybe she has some other slick tricks..."

Destiny looked over her handy work a moment longer to ensure that everything was fixed properly before glancing off in the direction the squirrel had gone. She had no idea if it would come back and try and chew on the wire again, but she hoped not: either way she could fix it, or find a better way to encase the wire should that happen. For now though she was done and there was nothing more she could do, so with a bend of her knees she pushed herself off of the wall, disengaging the gravity that held her there and causing herself to back-flip in the air. She free fell towards the ground, easily clearing the shrubbery and such, the flying mechanism of her boots kicking in in time to slow her before she hit the ground, causing her to land softly and lightly upon her feet and remain standing. After she adjusted her sweatshirt back into place and tucked her hair back behind her ears she reached into her pocket and pulled her cellphone out again.
After pulling up the security feeds she double checked that the camera was working, as well as every other camera on the property, pausing once again when she came upon the one positioned towards the bus stop. She could see that the girl was still there, and still using a laptop. She cocked her head to the side a moment in contemplation before walking in the girls direction, resisting the urge to attempt to snoop and see what she could possibly be doing on her laptop. In truth Destiny didn’t have many friends – her ‘nerd’ status kind of shot that horse in the face long ago when she graduated from high school at such a young age and from college far before the rest of her peers – so she figured maybe she could give it a shot. The worst that could happen was the girl reject her conversation, the best being Destiny gaining a new friend. Either way, it was worth a shot.
She took her time, not seeming to be in any rush, as she made her way down the path and to the bus stop itself. She paused at the road, looking both ways out of habit more than anything, before making her way across and over to the bus stop, leaning on one of the poles that supported the overhang. She refused to allow herself to glance over to the gardeners who had noticed her unguarded departure and whom were now torn between coming over and acting all protective over her and blowing who she really was, or simply watching from a distance to see what would happen and if they would be needed. Either way she knew she was going to hear about it from her Ace and Jacks when she returned, but she would deal with that when the time came.
”Hey there.”, and cue her social awkwardness. Time to attempt a quick fix! ”Nice computer. What brand is it?”, okay perhaps that wasn’t the best way to try and fix the social awkwardness – her inner geek was showing after all – but it was worth a shot. ”I have an Alienware 17, myself...” Okay, so she probably shouldn’t have bragged, but her laptop was one of the things she was very proud of – hard work had gone into that beauty and it wasn’t every day she had a reason to talk about it.

Re: Robots? This is why we can't have nice things! [Open]
The girl jumped off the wall. She did a back flip and slowed down before she hit the ground. Spook was left wondering how she did that; could she fly? Did she have control over gravity? Was it another gadget that she had? Spook could really see too much from this aerial view. He began thinking about building some sort of aerial drone. Something that could be controlled from a distance, and able to be easily built from easily accessible parts in case it was ever destroyed. Rebuilding it, or building another one altogether would be very easy out in the field.
Something like that would take funds though, and there wasn't exactly many jobs out at the moment, seeing as the families were all keeping hush hush, or were just inactive. A bus pulled up and let several people off. Spook waved the driver on when he looked down at the female seated in the stop. The doors closed and the bus moved on. Spook looked down at the screen again to see the girl looking at what appeared to be a smartphone. Zooming in slightly let Spook see that she was looking through a camera aimed at this very bus stop.
"Hmm. looks like we've been compromised."
"We're good. Spook is being still. Nothing can see through that veil thing of his until he moves around too much."
"Who knew the Morningstars had somebody like that in there?"
"Yeah. You think she can fly as well?"
"Who knows? You think she's one of the baddies?"
"Doesn't look like it. Too early to tell though. She seems like one of the brains."
The female started walking. Spook zoomed out some, watching the direction in which she was going. The guys around doing landscaping on the property all were looking skeptical, letting Spook know that these guys weren't simply gardeners. The female left the property and came over to the bus stop. As she was walking through the gate to the property, Spook changed the screens over to something he'd been writing earlier; an essay of sorts. The female spoke to the girl in the bus stop, complimenting the laptop and asking what kind it was, saying she had an Alienware 17.
"If I know Ol' Spook, he's not gonna say anything."
"That would be awkward. He's not gonna leave her hanging?"
"This could be a way in for us. I know Ol Spook doesn't pick sides, but i'm sure he knows we're in need of some funds."
"We could use one of those smart devices like she has."
"Not to mention some drones, and maybe a RC car."
"A good look around that big house, too..."
"It looks like i'mma have to step in."
"We can't just step in like that unless he's sleep. It's easier when he's been beaten down."
"Ol' Spook beaten down? Who's to say when that'll ever happen again, with how he is now? I'm the girliest of us 2, i'm sure Ol' Spook wants to see the inside of that house just as much as we do."
Spook shuddered some. A feminine sounding voice came from his throat after clearing it. "...It's not any kind, actually," she said. "I built this one myself."

Re: Robots? This is why we can't have nice things! [Open]
At first Destiny wasn’t sure whether or not she was going to get an answer: some people just didn’t like their business being pried into, she knew because she was one of those people. But, in the end the girl responded, saying that it wasn’t any specific kind because she had made it herself: it was unique, one of a kind then. A look of curiosity passed over Destiny’s face that she didn’t bother to hide, eyebrows raising in mild shock – it wasn’t every day she stumbled across someone after all with the know-how to build their own custom laptop. To say that she was intrigued was putting it mildly.
”You built that? Sweeeeet.”, the word was drawn out for a moment, filled with all kinds of approval and unspoken praise, really – her inner nerd was more than happy to have met someone with that kind of skill after all.
Stuffing her hands into her pockets more out of habit than anything else she leaned against the shelter of the bus stop in a more comfortable manner, glancing down the street at an approaching car before looking towards the girl with the laptop once more. “I thought about making my own, completely customizing one, but I have so many other projects on my hands that I never seem to have the time. If you don’t mind me asking how long did it take you to built that one?” Another simple question, but one meant to keep the conversation moving while attempting to get Destiny over her usual social awkwardness – she was used to dealing with people through a computer behind an anonymity, not face to face like she was. Destiny was just more comfortable behind a computer screen where Backspace and delete were her friends and allies instead of talking to someone face to face – but she had to come out of that shell eventually, especially if she was going to remain King of the Morningstar: or did she? She ignored the thought for now and instead kept her focus on the girl, ignoring the idea to handle the Morningstar business through disguises and behind a computer instead of face to face where eventually she would become known to the public.
Speaking of becoming known… As she realized she hadn’t really introduced herself she decided to tack on a quick, ”I’m Destiny by the way.”, as a means of being polite.
